MUSIC AT FIRST PRES

Glorifying God

First Pres is a musical church! We follow the traditional pattern of the church year, and the music in our worship reflects a wide variety of styles and traditions.

Beyond Sunday mornings, we share music with people in the community through choir and orchestra concerts at Christmas and Easter, hymn festivals, and other musical events. Watch past concerts here.

Our Music Ministries

The Brass Ensemble plays in Sunday worship at various times throughout the year, and for special events and holidays. If you play a brass instrument, contact Jim Richards (via the office) if you are interested in sharing your gift to glorify God.

The Carillon Ringers (3 octaves) ring for Sunday worship, special events, and holidays. The handbells are directed by Jane Holstein, along with her husband David Weck.

The First Pres Chancel Choir leads worship three Sunday mornings a month from September through May, with a wide range of choral music. The choir rehearses Thursday evenings at 7:30 pm, with a warm-up rehearsal before worship on Sunday mornings. You are welcome to join, no matter what level of vocal training! Please contact Jane Holstein if interested.

The First Pres worship team leads worship once a month and includes guitar, bass, and drums and is expanding to other instruments and combinations of voices. If you are interested in participating, please contact the church office.

The Alleluia Singers are young musicians in 2nd-5th grades. The children meet each Sunday, September-May, for rehearsal in the lower-level choir room after the children are dismissed from worship, then join Children’s Worship in the Kids Clubhouse. The Alleluia Singers periodically sing during Sunday morning worship. Parents of interested singers should contact Jane Holstein.

We present special musical events several times each year, often at Christmas, Lent, and Easter. Check our Events page for current information, or our Concerts page to watch past concerts.
